Fontana ProSolo
NWR drivers once again rock the year opening ProSolo at Fontana CA!

This
years Fontana ProSolo started as one of the wettest and coldest
California events in history. Here Jim Daniels splashes his
way to the finish on Saturday morning in 40 degree weather. Heck,
our local slush events have had better weather! The rain and cold
delayed the event all morning, and by mid afternoon, the second start
tree stopped running. It's very rare the SCCA calls an event due
to weather, but here they were canceling the remainder of the Saturday
runs, buy mid Saturday afternoon.
Sunday brought much better weather, almost normal for awhile, and the
staff felt they would try to make it up to all the participants by
running 6 total runs instead of the normal 4 in a regular set.
This gave everyone 3 runs on each course to put down some mainly dry
runs. The earlier classes had to deal with drying conditions, but
most had good dry runs for their best efforts!
We had 6 people win there classes and several other place very well in
class competition, but this was nothing compared to what the NWR was to
put down during the main event "challenges" of the ProSolo to come.
NWR sweeps the Hawk Super Challenge!
Kevin
Dietz stuns the crowd as he wins the Hawk Super Challenge in a
borrowed car! The team Zebra ES MR2 broke down at the end of
regular class competition runs. Kevin then jumps into Jodi Fordahl's
Fordahl Motorsports ES 944 for the first time ever, and marches through
the 32 person Challenge to take the top spot of the event! This
was Kevin's first Open Challenge win. Way to go Kevin!
Alan Dahl (last
years Hawk Super Challenge winner here at Fontana) driving Mike
Lillejord's team pajama ES Miata looked like he might
repeat, but ended up 2nd after hitting a cone in the final round.
Great job by Alan, for he has placed high in the last three years of the
LA area ProSolo. 2nd in 04 at San Bernardino, 1st in 05 at
Fontana, and now 2nd again in 06 at Fontana!
Third place was NWR member Glen Hernandez in the SpeedWrap
GS Mini Cooper of Jake Nygaard. In addition, Glen also won
his regular class competition!
All this success, and it's only one part of the event!
NWR ladies win two out of three Ladies Challenge positions!
Annie
Bauer, also in the Jake Nygaard's SpeedWrap GS Mini, wins the
Ladies Challenge for her first ever Ladies Challenge Win!
Annie was joined on the podium by Jodi Fordahl who took 3rd place
in her Fordahl Motorsports ES 944. Jodi had a great weekend and
also won the very difficult Ladies 1 class as well.
The amazing NWR success continues into the class competition.
We had 6 class wins!

Jerry Lamb wins his first ever ProSolo in his DS Team Butt Heat BMW 330.
Jerry had a strong 2nd place finish at the San Diego tour and now a win
at the pro. Way to go Jerry!
The
ES wrecking crew was at it again in ES. This time it was Karl
Coleman in the team Zebra MR2 taking the ES class win, with Alan
Dahl taking third for last trophy spot. NWR members once again
took 4 out of the top 5 spots in class competition!
Glen
Hernandez won the GS class in Jake Nygaard's Mini as well. That's
one successful mini!
Jodi
Fordahl upsets the Mini dominated L1 class and shows not only that
the 944 a good ES car, but that the S05 Hoosier is a competitive autox
tire! Jodi also went on to take third in the Ladies Challenge!
The NWR ladies also had their own wrecking crew in L1, making up 5 of
the 12 entrants!
Keith
Brown bested a 5 entrant field to take a dominant 1.8 second win in HS.
Scotty White in his Superbad Viper SRT, also turned some heads in
ASP by not showing up till Sunday morning to participate. Scotty
had a road race commitment in Phoenix on Saturday, and only had his
Sunday morning runs to go with. It was apparent Scotty did not get
a chance to walk much either, for on his first run, almost stopped in
the crossover to find his way. But being the experienced Evolution
Schools instructor that he is, he put it all together in 6 runs to win
by 2.8 seconds!
LiNay White also had a good weekend in the same car and got 3rd
in ASP in a class of 6!
Anna Goeke also ran in the open class, and jumped up to 3rd out
of 9 drivers in BS, on a real nice pair of final runs on Sunday.
