2006 Atwater NT

NWR has 35 attendees and grabs 9 wins at the Atwater NT.

Beautiful weather accompanied the entire weekend in Atwater California, as all the NWR members basked in the warm sunshine and donned the sun screen.

This time is was the NWR GS "wreaking crew" with four entrants in the open class and one in the Ladies class. NWR not only won both the open class and the ladies class, but they also swept the top three positions in the open class!

Abe Douglass ran very fast all weekend and pulled the upset in GS to win over both Jake Nygaard and Glen Hernandez who finished 2nd and 3rd.

Jodi Fordahl continued her strong year by running in the open class in ES in her 944 on Hoosiers. On Saturday she would grab the lead on each and every run and played leap frog with the eventual winner, which made for a very interesting race to watch. Jodi ended up 3rd in the 8 member class as Oregon member Jerry Jenkins in his Miata slipped by her on Sunday for 2nd.

Joe and Anna Goeke had a good weekend as both of them were able to lead both days for a family sweep of BS and BSL! With Anna 34 weeks pregnant, it's becoming a requirement to win in BSL :-)

L.J. Moffet was also the one to watch all weekend as he keep putting down times at the top of SM2. L.J ended up 2nd in class and would have won it until Andy Mckee took off 1.1 seconds in a borrowed SM car of Vic Sias, to take the win on his last run (Andy's Rx7 had broken on his second run). Bill Buetow ended up third over infamous Gary Thomason who was back in 4th.

Kevin Deitz continued to dazzle the crowd, this time by jumping in Jerry Lee's Z06 and winning a large 21 member SS class. Kevin lead both days and was the 'rerun' king on Saturday as both his first and second attempts on the course ended up as reruns. Impressive for him to still put down top time with the Kumho tires seeing that many runs with him and Jerry driving.
