SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS

Edge of the Rock Rally will be held under the Rally General Competition Rules of the Canadian Association of Rallysport, the current C.A.R.S. Rally Regulations and the rally regulations of the British Columbia Region. These publications are available from Paul Westwick, Regional rally Director, at 408-1169 Nelson St., Vancouver, B.C. V6E lJ3 or by phoning (604) 682-3296 or paulw@wimsey.com and will be available for scrutiny at the start.

The official name of the event is "Edge of the Rock Rally" and it is organized by the Nanaimo Sports Car Club, PO Box 267, Nanaimo BC V9R 5K9

Edge of the Rock Rally, being the second Pro rally event in BC in years, will be part of the B.C. Performance Rally Championship however, there will be no awards given. The start point of the rally will be at the Silver Bridge Inn, 140 Trans Canada Highway, Duncan BC with scrutineering to be nearby. The directions from there to the service area will give exact mileages which should be used for doing an odometer check. There will be a long lunch/service break Saturday. Portable toilet facilities will be provided at service area. There will be directions given for return to the Silver Bridge Inn each day, where we will be doing results.

No early registration at reduced fee. $250 CDN ($180 US) until close of registration on May 9.

May 3, 1997. Rally will be canceled if we have not received 10 paid entries by this date!

May 9, 1997, Friday.

6:00pm - 9:00pm Registration and Tech.

9:00pm - 10:00pm Informal welcome dinner at Silver Bridge Inn. CAUTION, only 10 late entries will be permitted with the total number of entries not to exceed 25! Register early to avoid disappointment.

May 10, 1997, Saturday.

8:00am- 9:00am Parc Expose

8:30am Drivers meeting and introduction of officials.

9:00am First car out.

5:15pm First car in.

May 11, 1997, Sunday.

7:30am Drivers meeting.

8:00am First car out.

2:00pm First car in.

We will be using the mainline logging roads around Mt. Waterloo and Lois Lake on the Koksilah Ridge just southwest of Duncan BC with the occasional foray into lesser roads. There will be a total stage distance of about 130 miles or 210 km in 7 stages on day one and 5 more on day two. The transits will amount to not much more than about another 50 miles total and none will be on open public roads except from the official start point at the Silver Bridge Inn to service area each day.

All entrants must have a valid SCCA Divisional license or better, or, must have a valid C.A.R.S. Regional license or better. Please note that Canadian residents must have a C.A.R.S. license and cannot run under a S.C.C.A. license. Also, no one under the age of 19 will be allowed to participate in this event. You will be required to purchase the appropriate license before being allowed to enter. Each Canadian resident entering will have to show a 1 st Aid certificate or be assessed a $25 fine.

Any cars without numbers will be assigned a temporary number just for this rally.

Crews will be responsible for their own meals, accommodation, fuel and all other expenses. The Silver Bridge Inn is giving a group rate of $62 CDN. It is essential you call early as room availability may become exhausted. Call at (250)748-4311 and be sure to ask for the Edge of the Rock Rally group rate.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR USA COMPETITORS

Vehicles registered in the United States of America shall be acceptable provided that they meet the requirements of the current SCCA Rally Rules. Entrants whose cars are entered under this provision must be able to produce, upon request by the officials of the event, a copy of the SCCA Pro Rally Rules. Failure to produce these may result in the car being judged according to CARS regulations. If your car passed its last SCCA tech, and you finished the event with no incidents, and have not modified your vehicle since, and have fixed any notations in your log book, you will pass our tech. Easy.
