Jay Bratton

1935-2010

It is with a very heavy heart that I pass on the news of Jay Bratton’s passing Sunday afternoon June 13 Jay, who has been in the ICU at Evergreen since June 4 with heart failure but thought to be improving, had taken a sudden turn for the worse during the night Saturday and had arrested. He was put on life support and the family called to his bedside. As of Sunday morning his family had made the decision to discontinue life support.
Jay joined SCCA in 1973 and has worn many hats for NWR over the years . His hats included past Regional Executive
from 1981-1984, and current National Starter and Divisional Steward
Licenses and current Race Treasurer. With SOVREN he was the Co–Race
Chairman with Dick Buckingham. Jay, you will be missed. Race in Peace.
At this time we are unsure of what plans the family will be making and will pass on the information as we hear it.

During my two stints with NWR (1978-81, 1988-1990), Jay was always one
of the bright lights of amateur sports car racing. His somewhat twisted
sense of humor always made working on the Crash/Rescue crew more fun
than it should have been. I know he'll be missed by all of you who are
still in NWR and SOVREN.
I was very sorry to hear of Jay's recent passing, and I was not aware he
was in bad health.
I always
enjoyed Jay's company each time we got together, and he was enjoyable
guy to be around. He had lots of stories to tell and I'll miss him.
My
sympathies to his family and friends in NWR and he will be missed.
